Making it easy for new candidates to launch their websites
Ragtag is a volunteer organization of technologists and activists working to support progressive candidates for federal, state, and local offices in the United States. Political candidates, especially people running for the first time, don’t always have the resources to make a quality website in a limited time. While volunteers like me are helping dozens of candidates with their sites, demand has started growing beyond what we can handle. Ragtag wanted to make a set of templates that could quickly and easily be deployed to candidates no matter what kind of content they had. I did competitive analysis on a wide range of existing campaign websites, and designed the first template. My goals were to create a template that is professional and patriotic while remaining accessible and, most importantly, adaptable to lots of different kinds of content.
